On January 31, 2023, Zhonghong Medical announced its plan to acquire 70% of the equity of Guilin HBM Health Protections, Inc. (HBM Protections) for RMB 541 million in over-raised funds. The merger adds surgical gloves and condoms to Zhonghong Medical’s portfolio, supports its “high-end and differentiation” strategy, and extends the combined group’s reach to more than 70 countries.

As a specialized latex manufacturer with more than 20 years of history, HBM Protections focuses on medical surgical gloves as its core business (approximately 80% of operations), together with condoms, household gloves, and industrial and protective gloves.
- Production capacity: 20 advanced surgical glove production lines, with an annual output of approximately 500 million pairs of latex surgical gloves. Production capacity ranks among the top three worldwide.
- Product range: Beyond standard surgical gloves, HBM has independently developed polyisoprene (PI), protein-reduced, wet-hand, double-layer, double-color, orthopaedic and other specialized surgical gloves — including an anti-virus medical latex product protected by Chinese invention patent ZL 2021 1 0630002.9.
- Quality control: Every glove undergoes 100% air-leak testing and visual inspection, supported by seven rounds of random inspection before shipment. Surgical gloves are produced to an AQL of 0.65, in line with the EN 455-1:2020 standard.
